This handsome and sweet boy is looking for an adopter. He was once called Davie, but is now known as Kupuna. This is because in Hawaii, the wise elders are known as Kupuna, which are the honored ones, deserving of respect and special care like this guy needs and deserves. Despite his frailty, he has a depth of spirit and resilience that has inspired everyone he's met. He was emaciated and unable to walk when brought in and yet he quickly made major improvements. However, he is unlikely to ever be able to go on walks or otherwise be active. Thankfully, he is very affectionate and loves to be gently petted and be around people. He is a very sweet and loving guy. His mobility issues are due to spinal arthritis but he can get around a home decently despite a hunch in his back. He gets along well with other dogs and has an overall docile personality.
Kupuna's ideal weight is 40 pounds and he is doing some physical therapy to help his mobility. He is also completely deaf and struggles with fecal incontinence due to lack of control of his hind end. Kupuna will need a very special home. He is a wonderful, loving dog who follows his person around the best he can but his energy level is pretty low and that's reflected in all aspects of his behavior. He needs an adopter who will accommodate his condition. He'll need a home where he gets the care he needs, excellent food and lots of affection. He will not do well with stairs, hyperactive or pushy dogs, and probably no young children. He is a quiet boy looking for a calm home.
Davie came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being surrendered by his guardian who could no longer care for him.
