Chewbacca (Chewy for short!) is quite the expressive little wookie, communicating how he feels through little grumbles, murmurs, and stamping of his feet. He is great at letting more forward dogs know that he would prefer not to have them in his personal space, but once he's gotten his message across, he doesn't hold it against them and loves easy going dogs! He quickly bonds with people and will stay right by your feet whether you're seated or moving around. He will follow you anywhere. Chewy is extremely treat-motivated, and takes treats from your hand very gently.

Chewbacca came to POMDR with a wound behind his right front leg that needed urgent attention (we assume from a lightsaber wound). Upon his arrival, we got some good news -- the wound is already healing on its own, and aside from some dry eye and ear polyps, both chronic to Shih Tzus, this little guy is in pretty good health.

Chewy flew to us from the far away planet of the Ventura County Animal Shelter.
