Who will care for your dog if you no longer can?
Peace of Mind Dog Rescue was founded to provide peace of mind to dog guardians by finding new permanent loving homes for dogs whose person can no longer care for them due to illness, death, or other challenging life circumstances, and to relieving the suffering of senior dogs who end up in animal shelters and have a poor chance of getting adopted from the shelter.
Every day, dogs are moved from everything and everyone familiar to them to concrete cages in loud, crowded animal shelters because their guardians have died or simply cannot care for them anymore. This is a heartbreaking tragedy that our programs strive to prevent.

Helping Paw Program
Peace of Mind would like to create a helping paw program to assist seniors and hospice patients in keeping their beloved pets with them as long as possible. When people are physically or financially unable to care for their pets, Peace of Mind would like to lend a helping paw.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 in order to launch this program. If you would like to make a donation to help make this program a reality, please contact us or send a check to POMDR, PO Box 51554 Pacific Grove, CA 93950. Thank you for helping keep cats and dogs in their homes with their families as long as possible!
We would like to be able to provide the following for pet guardians who can no longer provide for the pets:
- Routine Vet Care
- Transportation to Vet Appointments
- Spay/Neuter Assistance
- Pet Sitting when hospitalized
- Flea Treatment
- Grooming
- Arthritis Medication for Senior Pets
- Pet Visitation to Nursing Facilities (to visit guardian)
POMDR Super Wish
We dream of someday having a house where a caretaker would live with 10-15 of our senior dogs available for adoption and also provide hospice care for senior dogs to live out their final weeks and months. Contact us to make a donation to help make our "POMDR Dog House" a reality!
