Autumn has big, soulful brown eyes that gaze at you with adoration but hide the pain of her past. This little gal is a trooper, having come to us from Salinas Animal Services after being hit by a car. With a fractured pelvis and injured leg, Autumn's future was uncertain. But we're happy to report that we were able to save her leg and mobility, thanks to strict bed rest and loving care.
Though she will always have some mobility issues with one of her back legs, Autumn gets around just fine on her daily walks. She loves to stop and sniff and say hello to other dogs her size. She tends to avoid larger dogs. Beyond outdoor outings, Autumn is a total couch potato, ready to snuggle up next to you as watch TV or read.
Autumn didn't spend much time in doggie school before she came to POMDR, so she's still learning some of the basics. She now understands the importance of going potty outside, and the offering of treats is helping her learn other things as well. One thing we didn't have to teach her is how to be a loving companion. Her foster family says, "If you're searching for a dog you can carry easily who will stick to you like glue, warn you of intruders, cuddle endlessly and look at you like you're the most amazing person on the planet, Autumn is your dog!"
A DNA test revealed Autumn to be a Rat Terrier-Australian Cattle dog mix, with a predilection for giving tiny kisses and wagging her tail.
