This cutie is crazy adorable. She's just a young pup and the world is pretty scary for her. Roxie, also known as Amy, is timid and seeks safety with a familiar person. She will need someone patient who can help boost her confidence. She is easily skittish, and may try to bolt if spooked. Roxie isn't interested in meeting other dogs while out. Walking on leash, she is fear reactive (barks) if she sees strangers and some dogs. When meeting people she is fear reactive and barks, jumps forward then retreats. She is uncomfortable with most people she doesn't know, especially if they are standing.

She is dog particular and is fearful or uncertain of a good portion of dogs she meets. She responds better to calmer, more confident dogs who can read her signals. She is uncomfortable with dogs that are too nosey. Amy must have another dog in her future home, as she gains a lot of confidence from them.

Roxie has been working with a trainer to help overcome her fear of separation. She has come a long way but still has separation and isolation anxiety. She barks, whines, howls when stressed and sometimes even is vocal during play. She is a shadow dog and wants to be near her person as much as possible, but likes cuddles on her own terms. She does snuggle close on the couch or bed once acquainted.

Really, once comfortable in a home and with a person, she is super sweet and silly. She has a funny, sassy side as well. Other than needing another dog, she is also looking for a home without kids, as she is unsure about being handled a lot and sudden movements scare her. Roxie needs someone who is going to continue enrichment, decompression walks and compassionate training.

Roxie does great in cars and prefers the backseat, settling in contently even for long rides. She can be a high energy pup, zooming around, but can quickly revert to being a dog that goes into stand-by mode and hangs out nervously. She likes squeaker toys and chew toys.

Roxie came to us because her senior guardian lives in a rental that doesn't allow her to have dogs. She was adopted from POMDR but Roxie became overwhelmed with the changes and fearful of her new home. Knowing more about her threshold, we are hoping to help her better adjust to a patient and understanding person.
