Dezmond is a cute older man looking for someone to spend his golden years with. He came to us with one remaining eye that we found out actually had a ruptured cornea! The poor guy! Thankfully we removed it and he's feeling much better. He is now completely blind and working to adjust to his new circumstances.
He toddles around just fine, gently bumping into things as he goes, but can walk on leash nicely. We think he is looking for familiarity, so he would do best with someone patient who can get him into a grounded routine but who can also learn his cues and respect his boundaries. Because he is blind, he can be startled, and when he's afraid, he can be nippy. He needs a dog-savvy, special person to love him as he is. He would do best in a calm, adult-only forever home.
He is good about being in his crate. He likes to be by his person to snuggle, and he may give some kisses. Otherwise, he is also an explorer, and a safe environment will be needed for him. One without stairs is a must. A home with other dogs and cats is fine as he will get along well.
Dezmond came to us from San Jose Animal Care and Services. He was adopted but came back to us because a resident dog was reactive toward Dezmond, and despite being loved by his person, it was unfair for him to remain in the environment.
