Mr. Earl is an adorable and mellow little senior dog. He was surrendered to San Jose Animal Care for euthanasia when his guardians could no longer afford to manage his heart issue, but they asked us at the last minute if we could take him and we said yes! We are hopeful we can give him a fighting chance.
Earl definitely enjoys getting outside and exploring on walks but needs to take it easy as he gets winded very easily. Thankfully he loves rides in a stroller. He is a calm and fairly confident dog in meeting new people but is overall shy, having the desire to be outgoing but won't run up to someone new for pets. He is ok being alone but prefers being in his pack, people and dogs, and while not a velcro dog, he is a tag along. This dog loves to eat. He enjoys toys but much prefers treats and things he can consume.
Earl is amazing with other dogs. He will cuddle with them and is just a sweet guy to other canines. He is a quiet dog but does have a frequent wheezing sound. He is fantastic in the car and very appropriate in the home. Early desires calm affection, which can be sometimes tough to maintain as many people squeal with glee when seeing his cuteness and puppy-like appearance. He is a cuddle companion that will do best in a quiet home with another mellow dog. Earl has a precious soul deserving of a deep bond and commitment from his forever person.
Mr. Earl is going to the cardiologist and we'll know more about his future care then.
