Hello there! I'm Nyla Girl.
I'm a lot of dog, and I might look like I'm frowning all the time, but actually I'm really a sweet and shy soul who wants to please you. I'm trying super hard to learn the rules of my foster home, and I'm starting to relax and enjoy my family, who is helping me with consistent commands so I know what is expected of me. Given that I'm only 3 years old, I'm pretty mellow, and I do appreciate snuggles and naps, especially at your feet or in my bed. I love to go on walks, especially ones where I can take my time, and sniff all the messages left for me by other pups. I'm learning to be polite when on leash, and if I start to pull, a verbal command will remind me of my manners. I enjoy a romp in my back yard, too. I like car rides! Although I still have some things to learn, I'm eager to please, and respond positively to treats, so I'll be easy to train. I want to be your BEST DOG!
I get along well with other dogs, if you have any in your family. I will not compete for alpha dog position in your house! I'm not a fan of cats, though. I like all the people I've met so far, even though when I first meet you I may be bashful. Greet me sweetly, and I will warm up to your kindness. I love to have my face and nose rubbed, and I'm going to return the favor with kisses. All I ask from you is a quiet place to live, some patience, and clear, consistent direction, and I will be the best companion you can imagine. I have so much potential! Please let me show you what a good girl I can be.
Nyla was picked up as a stray last summer. The good Samaritan who helped catch her as a stray decided to adopt her, but between caring for an aging parent and Nyla being iffy with her cats, she decided it was best to let Nyla find a forever home that had the time to further her socialization and training. In her previous home, she bonded with another dog and will benefit from having a confident dog that she can learn from in her future home.
