Little Shanel is an absolute sweetheart, her good nature especially noteworthy considering what she must have gone through before she came to us. At present, she's not able to use her back legs, and needs help getting around and some support while she's "taking care of business." Shanel will be seeing a physical therapist soon and we hope to get her back on her feet (literally!) in the near future.
Despite being more or less immobile right now, and potentially forever (aside from doing a bit of an army crawl on her belly, just a few inches at a time), Shanel is bright-eyed and alert most of the time, and she finds plenty to enjoy in life. She has the sweetest disposition you can imagine. She LOVES treats and can catch them in her mouth. She does well with new dogs and new humans, and she's currently happy in her foster home with a fellow dog and older kids. She loves to be held and carried, does well during car rides, and she's a good sport about her mobility issues: she gives gentle but clear signals when she has to go outside or would like a little attention from you.
Shanel looks forward to finding a mellow, supportive home where she can enjoy her retirement years. Shanel came to us from the Hollister Animal Shelter.
