Male, 12 years old, 20 pounds
Stevie Wonder came to us in style: he literally arrived on a private plane! Stevie was found as a stray, wandering the streets of Orange Cove, CA. Orange Cove does not have an animal shelter, so a woman who has connections with the animal control office brought him home to foster when no one claimed him. She was able to find him a ride to Monterey with a local pilot who was hoping to get some extra flight hours.

Stevie touched down at the Marina airport, where he had a car waiting for him to bring him to our main office. His new life of luxury is quite a change from being a street dog, but Stevie is unfazed. He's an easygoing little guy with a tail wag for everyone, human and canine, who crosses his path. He's happiest dozing on a lap most of the day (and he's a snuggly, floppy teddy bear in your arms) but he also likes to use his nose to explore his surroundings. He's mostly deaf, and he has low vision, especially at night, but he seems to be in pretty good shape, considering that he was a stray.

Stevie cannot do stairs and will stumble, so he needs a home without them. He walks well on leash, doesn't pull, goes slowly, and loves to sniff everything he encounters. He is a very quiet dog and is great with other dogs. He is easy to pick up and pet. Even if he's sleeping, you can wake him up and pick him up.
