Gabilan, or Gabby, is very sweet and affectionate, loves to give kisses, and loves to be pet. When someone comes over to the home, she is eager to say hello to them and is likewise happy to greet people she meets outside the house with lots of tail wags. She has been a little nervous in the car but is adjusting quickly. We don't think she's experienced very much out in the world, so at first she is a bit timid with new environments and experiences but then quickly gains confidence.

Gabby walks well on leash, is crate trained, loves to play with toys and is overall a quiet dog. She sleeps nicely through the night and gets along well with dogs in her foster home and with those she's met outside of the house.

We were initially contacted about Gabilan by a Cal Fire crew stationed thirty minutes south of Hollister. They found Gabilan out in the wilderness, and she ended up going to Hollister Animal Shelter to confirm that she was a stray. The fire crew was thrilled to hear that she was able to make her way to POMDR, because they'd all fallen in love with her!

Gabilan was found with a severely broken leg, but she has now had surgery to fix it and physical therapy to help it fully heal.

The Captain at Cal Fire said, "We're glad to hear Gabby is on her way to recovery! She's such a sweetheart, never barked or growled at us, even when we cornered her a little to capture her. We came up at a loss for a name at first, but the hills/mountains we found her in are the Gabilan/Gavilan range and it seemed to stick."
