Fennec is completely blind, and quite hearing impaired but gets along just fine. He has a quiet, gentle energy, and gets along well with other dogs, though he can be startled if another dog enters his space unexpectedly. He can be led by gentle touch and is very appreciative of affection. If you touch his sides to let him know you're going to lift him, he will leap up into the air to make it easier for you!
Fennec is a very smart boy! He is house trained and very quiet except when communicating his needs. He is good with using a bark to let you know if he needs to go outside or needs assistance from you. He doesn't play with toys much but he enjoys making nests out of blankets!
Fennec will occasionally bump into other dogs without meaning to, but he is able to quickly reorient himself and give the other dogs space. Because of his blindness and deafness, he walks in circles quite often, especially when orienting himself to a new area. Aside from these impairments, he is in excellent health for his age. Fennec's eyes have been removed in his care at POMDR, as they were nonfunctioning and bothering him. He seems to be much more comfortable without them.
Fennec came to us from San Jose Animal Care and Services after being found as a stray.
