Papas relishes all the love he can get. Belly rubs being his favorite form of affection. He is also very tolerant of any handling - bathing, brushing, cleaning his teeth, and he loves being picked up. Papas gets along great with other dogs, loves people, and goes for long 2-3 mile hikes daily with no problem. His foster mom says he has been a really, really sweet, easy-going, and happy boy. She states that Papas has been through a lot but really loves life!
Papas came to us from the Ventura County Animal Shelter, where he had been brought in as a stray multiple times over the course of several years. His guardian continued to come to get him when he was brought in, until the last time, when she decided not to claim him. Papas had a prolapsed rectum, and the shelter reached out to POMDR to take him in as a medical case.
We discovered the prolapse was due to a rectal mass and Papas has an adrenal mass. We thought Papas was a hospice dog, but it turns out he has a ton of life left in him! He is currently doing very well with treatment for the masses (a pill a day) and both masses are stable. The prolapsed rectum has resolved.
We know there is someone out there who would love to adopt Papas despite his challenges and give him an active life. Is that person you?
