Carlton came to POMDR as an urgent medical intake from a shelter after being attacked by an animal or another dog. Sadly, when he was found as a stray he had open wounds on his head and neck. He was not in good shape, and he needed our help.
Carlton LOVES humans. Whether he's being carried around or snuggled, he just appreciates your time and attention. He's a great little dog and will make someone a wonderful companion. At this point, he's still a little fearful of other dogs (reasonably so, after what happened to him) so he'll need a dog-savvy guardian to help him acclimate to having another gentle dog around, or he'd be happy being the center of your attention. He does best with dogs that are his size or smaller. Carlton is interested in cats so would need a dog-savvy cat to cohabitate with. We don't know if he has experience with children. He really wants to be around people all the time, so would do well in a forever home that can help him work on his separation anxiety and learning the important life skill of napping when home alone!
He's still healing up and he'd love to find someone who can help him on his journey in his new life as a loved dog.
