Panda (or as his fosters call him, Fig) is a perpetual surprise. He is slow to warm up to his people but as he does, it is so thrilling to watch him blossom and shine! The longer he's in foster, the more the layers are peeled back and the more his fun, smart, quirky personality is revealed. He came to POMDR very shut down after a lifetime in a backyard shared with many other dogs. Every day brings more personality, more capacity for joy, and more of a sense of entitlement to be comfortable and silly and part of his foster family. He plays with another dog in his foster home and respects the other dogs that aren't play-oriented. He is exceedingly tolerant of each one of them - generally a superstar with other dogs.
If there was one word to describe Fig, it would be "tolerant" but we're hoping he won't have to employ that gold medal tolerance too often and will get to make choices, build confidence, and find his happy place more every day. He is a very easy keeper- quiet, gives gentle kisses, and loves belly rubs! He has yet to be introduced to cats or children but we feel he would do best in a home with our small children. Fig's ideal home will include a dog door to a fenced yard, maybe another gentle, playful dog, and humans with patience and time for his daily walks.
Panda came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services.
