Samwise may indeed be a hobbit pretending to be an adorable scruffy pooch. Shy, a big fan of food (especially turkey for second breakfast), and incredibly loyal, Samwise certainly wouldn't be out of place in the Shire. Like his namesake, Samwise is highly adventurous and loves the great outdoors. Though Samwise takes a little time to warm up to people when he first meets them, once he does, he'd follow you all the way to Mordor.

While Samwise can be a bit shy, he does well with other furfriends and often shows off his wagging tail in response to making new friends. We haven't had a chance to see Samwise with children so we would want to make sure small kids were respectful and interactions are monitored. This sweet pup has been working on self-improvement where potty training is concerned.

Samwise did not actually come from the Shire, but he did come to us from the SPCA for Monterey County.
