Meet Phylo: a sweet senior gentleman with a world-class nose with a gentle heart, an easygoing nature, and one very impressive claim to fame: he is one of only 22 dogs in the nation to receive Master Elite certification in scent work through the SPCA!

In his foster home, Phylo has been an absolute delight. He is friendly with strangers, warms up quickly, and greets new people with quiet curiosity rather than barking or fuss. He is a loyal little shadow who enjoys following his people around the house, but he is not demanding. He is happy to be near you, beside you, or sometimes right on you.

Phylo loves affection and has an adorable way of asking for more: if you stop petting him before he is ready, he may gently place his paw on you to request an encore. He also enjoys being held and makes a wonderful companion for someone who wants a loving, connected dog.

For all his scent-work accomplishments, Phylo is a mellow guy day to day. He likes short, easy walks, which is appropriate for a 10-year-old dog. He enjoys car rides and settles well in the car when handled safely. At home, he sleeps through the night until you are ready to get up.

Phylo is house-trained and can also use a potty pad. He is slightly hard of hearing, but this does not seem to slow him down much. He prefers not to be left alone for long stretches, so he would be happiest with someone who is home often or can include him in daily life.

Phylo re-joined POMDR after his former guardian was sadly no longer able to care for him. Now he is ready for a new chapter with people who will love him for the special dog he is.
