Meet Lenny, a small gentleman with a heart as big as his personality. This tiny survivor has been through more than most dogs ever should, but thanks to the incredible care of POMDR's veterinary team, he's thriving and making the most of every single day. His absolute favorite thing in the world? Walks! Don't let his adorable wobble fool you, Lenny is a man on a mission, happily trotting along with places to be.

Lenny does have heart disease and will need daily medication for life, but he couldn't make it any easier. He happily takes every pill right from your hand like it's a special treat, and he's doing wonderfully on his current medication. Before he's neutered, POMDR will continue monitoring his heart to ensure anesthesia is safe, but in the meantime, he simply needs someone committed to his daily meds and ready to love him for the funny, resilient little guy he is.

Because of some neurological wobbliness, Lenny occasionally loses his balance or takes a tumble, but he never lets it slow him down. He's learned clever ways to help himself-like leaning against bushes when he goes potty and if he happens to get stuck in a pile of blankets or couch cushions, he'll appreciate a helping hand. For that reason, he'd do best in a home where someone is around often to keep an eye on him.

Lenny is the definition of a polite houseguest. He won't bark or whine when he needs to go outside; instead, he'll quietly walk to the door and patiently wait. If you're gone a little longer than expected, he'll even do his best to use a pee pad. He's wonderful with small dogs, respectful of cats, and would also be perfectly content as your one and only best friend. He's an incredibly gentle, sensitive soul who wants nothing more than to make his people happy, so kind encouragement is all he ever needs.

Like many former strays, Lenny still has a curious streak. He loves exploring little side trails on walks, so he'll always need a secure harness and leash, and because he's so small, a securely fenced yard without tiny escape routes is important. Once underweight when he arrived in rescue, he's now filled out beautifully and especially enjoys canned food with plenty of gravy to help keep him hydrated.

The very best part of Lenny isn't his speed, his funny little wobble, or even his sweet smile-it's the way he loves. When you come home, he'll climb onto the couch, flop his entire tiny body across you, shower you with kisses, and nuzzle his little face into yours with the happiest grin. At bedtime, he'll burrow under the blankets, wiggle down by your legs, and sleep there until morning. All Lenny wants is a cozy place to call home, someone to love with his whole medically complicated heart, and lots of fast walks shared together.

A generous secret admirer has already paid Lenny's adoption fee. Now all he's waiting for is the person who will see just how extraordinary this little survivor truly is and give him the forever home he's been dreaming of. Lenny joins us from Hitchcock Road Animals Services in Salinas after being found stray.
